1. Even when I bring to your attention your mistakes, I will not forget your many good qualities
2. Even when I push you to become better, I will be patient and remember you are not perfect
3. Even when I speak highly of the person you are becoming, I will not remind you of your past fault and judge you by them
4. Even when I give you my suggestions, I will not impose them on you
5. Even when you disagree with me, I will not take it to mean you are my enemy
6. Even when your idea turns out to be better than mine, I will not feel threatened or inferior
7. Even when I correct you, I will allow you to correct me. We both err differently
8. Even when you hurt me, I will not hurt you back in revenge but work out the issue with you because I know you didn't mean to hurt me, your heart is in the right place
9. Even when I make sexual advances towards you and you seem not interested in making love, I will not become suspicious of you or get mad. You could be having a bad day, stressed and I don't expect you to always be in the mood
10. Even if your parents and siblings do better than mine or don't have the challenges mine do, I will not feel bad. My family is my family, we love them as they are; your family is your family, we love them as they are
11. Even if unfortunately you forget to tell me you love me or you forget my birthday, I will not conclude you don't love me or care. I will remember the other 364 days of the year you have consistently shown me love
12. Even when you say something that doesn't sit right with me, I will not react to it or attack you for it. I will seek clarification on what you meant and give you a chance to explain without crucifying you. Sometimes words just don't come out right
